Asset Groups

Asset Groups

Organize assets by grouping them based on certain asset properties.

Role Required: SDAdmin, SDSiteAdmin

Use case: Zylker is planning to update a patch on their assets. Using asset groups, they can pinpoint assets with 500GB RAM that need a software update before rolling out the patch update.

Types of asset groups in AssetExplorer Cloud:
Static Group: Select assets manually to be added to the group.
Dynamic Group: Automatically add assets to a group based on certain criteria.
 

Create Groups

  1. Go to Assets and click besides Groups from the left pane.
  2. Alternatively, you can click Quick Actions  > New Group.
  3. Enter a unique group name. This is mandatory.
  4. Describe the group objective or details.
  5. Select the group type - static or dynamic.
  6. Click Save.


Add Assets to Groups

Depending on the group type, configure the relevant fields:

Static Group
Dynamic Group

  1. Click Add Assets To Group.
  2. Select the assets to add into the static group.
  3. Use the filter to view and select assets/asset components. You can also filter the assets displayed based on asset state.
  4. Click Add.

  1. Define the criteria and condition to be checked using the relevant drop-down menus.
  2. Select the condition values based on the selected criteria.
  3. Click OK.
  4. You can define multiple criteria using the drop-down menu. Select one of the logical operators to be applied if multiple criteria is configured:
  5. Match ALL of the following (AND) - Asset will be added to the group only if all criteria is satisfied.
  6. Match ANY of the following (OR) - Asset will be added to the group if any one of the criteria is satisfied.
  7. Click Save.

Edit/Delete Groups

To edit or delete groups, go to Assets > All Groups.
Click or across the required asset group.


Alternatively, navigate to the group. Hover over the toolbar and click the or icon.
