Mobile Device Manager (Cloud)

Mobile Device Manager (Cloud)

Integrate AssetExplorer Cloud with Mobile Device Manager Cloud application to allow technicians to track and manage smartphone and tablet devices.
Once integrated, the device information from mobile and smartphone devices is brought into AssetExplorer Cloud. These imported appliances are referred to as Devices in Mobile Device Manager Cloud and Assets in ServiceDesk Plus Cloud.

Benefits of integrating AssetExplorer Cloud with MDM Cloud:

View all assets from a single location, as mobile devices added to Mobile Device Manager Cloud are automatically synced with AssetExplorer Cloud.
Track devices in AssetExplorer Cloud, with device information from Mobile Device Manager Cloud periodically synced to AssetExplorer Cloud.
Locate devices and track user assignment history from AssetExplorer Cloud.
Perform various actions on imported devices, such as associating profiles, distributing apps, and deprovisioning devices.
Associate contracts with imported devices.

Enabling Mobile Device Manager Cloud Integration

Role Required: SDAdmin with OrgAdmin permissions.

To enable Mobile Device Manager Cloud integration,
  1. Go to Setup > Apps & Add-ons > Integrations > ManageEngine Integrations.
  2. On the Mobile Device Manager Plus card, click the toggle button.
  3. In the pop-up window, select Enable.

Once the integration is enabled, the SDAdmin can disable/enable the integration as required.

Importing Devices

After the integration is activated, a sync will commence to import all device information from the Mobile Device Manager Cloud into AssetExplorer Cloud.
Subsequently, a scheduled sync will occur every 24 hours to update device details, as well as add and remove devices between Mobile Device Manager Cloud and AssetExplorer Cloud.
You can also manually synchronize device information by selecting the Sync Now option.
The last synchronized information can be viewed by clicking Synced Info on the Mobile Device Manager Plus card under Setup > Apps & Add-ons > Integrations > Third Party Integrations. You can also view the previous and upcoming sync under Synced Info.
Info
The initial and manual sync will import device information from Mobile Device Manager Cloud and update it in AssetExplorer Plus Cloud. On the other hand, the scheduled sync will only import information on added, deleted, and updated devices.

The imported devices are stored under Assets > IT and classified as Smartphones or Tablets.

During import, the following information will be synced:
  1. Product Name and Model
  2. Device details like IMEI, serial number, network information, and OS
  3. User managing the mobile device

The imported devices will contain the Mobile Device Manager Cloud logo beside their name in the assets list view and on the details page. You can perform several actions on the imported devices such as locating the device, associating profiles, distributing apps, and deprovisioning the device. Learn more

Configuring Settings

The SDAdmin can determine the action to be performed on an asset in AssetExplorer Cloud when it is removed from Mobile Device Manager Cloud.

  1. Click Settings on the Mobile Device Manager Plus card under Setup > Apps and Add-ons > Integrations > ManageEngine Integrations and choose one of the three options:
None: Removes the device from integration. The asset will continue to stay in AssetExplorer Cloud but it will be treated as a normal IT Asset. The integration logo will also be removed from the asset list view and details page.
Mark Asset State as: Choose the state the asset must be moved into from the dropdown. There are four states available: Disposed, Expired, In Repair, and In Store.
Remove Asset:  The Asset will be deleted from AssetExplorer Cloud.

  1. Click Save. The selected action will be applied to the assets during the next scheduled sync.

To disable Mobile Device Manager Cloud Integration,
  1. Go to Setup > Apps & Add-ons > Integrations > ManageEngine Integrations.
