A relationship map helps visualize the connections between a base CI and related CIs. This allows you to identify dependencies between CIs.
Role Required: SDAdmin, SDCMDBAdmin, SDCMDBManager.
You can access the relationship map in two ways:
- From the CMDB list view: Click the settings icon against the CI and select Relationship Map.
- From the CI details page: Click Relationship Map displayed at the top.
The relationship map represents the relationships between only the CIs and not the CI types.
Components of a Relationship Map
A relationship map consists of nodes and their connections, organized in a parent-child structure.
In AssetExplorer Cloud, these nodes are referred to as CIs, while the connections are called CI relationships. The map also displays the cardinality of relationships numerically.
The relationship map comprises three key components: the base CI, related CIs, and their relationships. The relationships can be either direct or inverse. The relationship between CIs is shown on the relationship arrows.

Viewing Direct and Inverse CI Relationships in Map
To view relationships between CIs you should
define them first. The relationships can be either direct or inverse.
Consider the relationship map of the CI John whose related CIs are Cisco_WebX_Service and Google_Azure_Service.
In the below screenshot, John Manages Cisco_WebX_Service is a direct relationship.
In the below screenshot, Cisco_WebX_Service Managed by John is an inverse relationship:
You can also view the direct and inverse relationships in the Relationships tab in the right pane.
View CI Details in the Relationship Map
- Click the CI to open the right pane.
- The right pane displays the following tabs:
- Details: Provides basic information and relationships of the CI.
- Associations: Displays contracts associated with the CI.
- Downtimes: Shows both active and scheduled downtime of the CI.
This is a read-only view and you cannot modify any details.
